SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WPMI) — Runners participated in the Battleship 12K run, a veterans day tradition, Sunday morning in Spanish Fort.
The race started on the Eastern Shore and runners made their way across the Causeway to hit the finish line at Battleship Memorial Park.
It was the third annual Battleship 12k. The race is held on Veterans Day weekend and is dedicated to those who have served or are still serving in the United States military.
Patrick Aucoin was the overall winner of the race. He finished in 39 minutes and 19 seconds. Samantha Gardner won the women’s division for the second year in a row with a time of 47 minutes and 17 seconds.
The 12k started at the Spanish Fort Town Center with the finish line located in the shadow of the USS Alabama.
